Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 July 2026

FMCG Hire ("we", "us", "our") operates fmcghire.com — a specialist job board for the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods industry. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have.

By using FMCG Hire you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.

1. Who We Are

FMCG Hire is the data controller for personal data processed on this platform. You can contact us at privacy@fmcghire.com with any privacy-related questions.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash), company name (employers only), and account type (job seeker or employer). You may also provide a phone number and professional title.

2.2 Resume & Professional Data

Job seekers may upload a CV/resume and enter skills, work experience, education, and certifications. This information is used to match you with relevant roles and, if you make your profile visible, to allow registered employers to find you.

2.3 Job Applications

When you apply for a role through FMCG Hire, we share your application and resume data with the relevant employer. We retain a record of your applications for your own reference and to prevent duplicate submissions.

2.4 Job Listings & Payment Data

Employers provide job details (title, description, location, salary, requirements) when posting a listing. Payment for listings is processed by Stripe, Inc. — we receive a transaction confirmation and reference but do not store your full card details. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

2.5 Usage & Technical Data

We automatically collect standard server log data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referral URL, and timestamps. We use this to maintain security, diagnose errors, and improve the platform. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

2.6 Communications

If you subscribe to job alerts or our newsletter, we store your email and preferences. If you contact us via the contact form, we retain that correspondence.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Providing the service — creating and managing your account, enabling job applications, displaying listings, and processing employer payments.
  • AI-assisted matching — we use large language models (via OpenRouter) to help score resume–job fit and generate candidate summaries for employers. No personally identifying information is used to train external models.
  • Communications — sending transactional emails (application confirmations, password resets, listing expiry reminders) via Resend. We may also send you relevant job alerts or platform updates you have opted into.
  • Security & fraud prevention — detecting abusive activity, verifying accounts, and protecting the integrity of the platform.
  • Legal compliance — meeting our obligations under applicable law.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on the following bases:

  • Contract — processing necessary to provide our services to you.
  • Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, and improving the platform.
  • Consent — newsletters, job alerts, and optional marketing communications (you may withdraw at any time).
  • Legal obligation — where required by law.

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only:

  • With employers — when you apply for a job, your application and resume are shared with that employer.
  • With service providers — Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), OpenRouter (AI inference). All processors are bound by data processing agreements.
  • When legally required — in response to a valid legal request, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of FMCG Hire or others.
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will notify you in advance.

6. International Transfers

FMCG Hire operates globally. Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for transfers from the EEA/UK.

7. Data Retention

  • Active accounts and their associated data are retained for as long as your account is open.
  • If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. financial records are kept for 7 years).
  • Anonymised or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent — for any processing you previously consented to.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@fmcghire.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you logged in (session cookie) and to protect against CSRF attacks. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from logging in.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures including TLS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@fmcghire.com.

11. Children

FMCG Hire is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn that a child under 16 has registered, we will delete their account.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
